Bio

    Julian Baslyk was born and raised in Montreal. He began to create abstract, colorful artworks at a young age. He has studied at numerous institutions including Dawson college fine arts, painting and drawing at Concordia University and painting at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, however, Julian considers himself to be mostly self-taught. He started exhibiting in 2009 where he had his first solo show at Gallery Luz in Montreal which included 9 intaglio monoprints from his Colored Lines series. He became a member of the Montreal Art Center in 2012 where he participated in many group exhibitions and where he had 2 multi-disciplinary solo shows in 2012 and in 2014. These exhibitions featured many paintings, drawings and intaglio prints. Julian has also exhibited in various restaurants, coffee shops and galleries in the Montreal area. Julian has taken part in many group art events and group exhibitions in Montreal over the years. He has had his artwork in 3 publications, first being in the 2013 version of State of the Art - Artist book, and in 2014 his artworks were published in the Hidden Treasure Art Magazine, and a third in the July 2018 edition of the magazine from the Montreal gallery called 'Usine106u.' His most recent solo show was called 'Harmonious Junctions' at the Matahari loft which featured 22 paintings and 2 intaglio prints. He has since exhibited in numerous group shows in 2018 at gallery Usine106u. Julian will soon graduate from Concordia University in the painting and drawing program and will consider pursuing a graduate degree in the arts.   

 Julian Baslyk est né et a grandi à Montréal. Il a commencé à créer des œuvres abstraites et colorées dès son plus jeune âge. Il a étudié dans de nombreux établissements, notamment les beaux-arts du collège Dawson, la peinture et le dessin à l'Université Concordia et la peinture au Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal. Cependant, Julian se considère lui-même comme un autodidacte. Il a commencé à exposer en 2009, lors de sa première exposition personnelle à la Galerie Luz à Montréal, qui comprenait 9 tirages en intaglio de sa série Colored Lines. Il est devenu membre du Centre d'art de Montréal en 2012, où il a participé à plusieurs expositions collectives et a présenté deux expositions solo multidisciplinaires en 2012 et en 2014. Ces expositions comprenaient de nombreux tableaux, dessins et gravures en taille-douce. Julian a également exposé dans divers restaurants, cafés et galeries de la région de Montréal. Julian a participé à plusieurs événements artistiques et expositions de groupe à Montréal au fil des ans. Il a eu ses œuvres dans 3 publications, la première dans la version 2013 de State of the Art - Artist Book, et en 2014, ses œuvres ont été publiées dans le magazine Hidden Treasure Art Magazine, et une troisième dans l'édition de juillet 2018 du magazine la galerie montréalaise appelée 'Usine106u'. Sa dernière exposition personnelle s’appelait «Harmonious Junctions» au loft Matahari. Elle comportait 22 peintures et 2 gravures en taille-douce. Il a depuis exposé dans de nombreuses expositions collectives en 2018 à la galerie Usine106u. Julian obtiendra bientôt son diplôme en peinture et dessin de l'Université Concordia et envisagera de poursuivre des études de deuxième cycle en arts.
